Religious and cultural observances Back to Menu
We believe it is important to encourage children in our care to pursue and identify with any or all aspects of their cultural background. If staff do not know the relevant information needed to help the child in our care, they will actively seek to gain this information.
If particular clothing, hair or skin care is more expensive than set allowances can afford, this will be addressed to meet the child's needs. We believe it is important that there be some continuity from previous placements with regard to religious observance and the child feels that consideration has been given in respect to their religion. Each child will have the opportunity to attend religious services and instruction appropriate to their religion. If, as part of religious observance, special clothing or diet is required this will be facilitated within the home.
