Unauthorised absence of a child in our care
Any child will be considered 'missing' when they have left the premises without permission and their whereabouts is unknown, or they have failed to return at a pre-arranged time.
Individual children's circumstances will be taken into account when they are absent from the premises without permission. After a careful search of the house and the local area a decision will be made on the appropriate course of action. Depending on the child's risk assessment and the circumstances they will be reported as absent from care.
During this time the child's family and responsible authority will be notified. All relevant recording will be completed. It is our policy that if there is any doubt regarding the safety of any child the police are notified immediately.
