Frequently Asked Questions

1. What time are we allowed to stay out till?
It depends on your age but no later than 10.30pm.

2. Do we have our own bedrooms?
Yes and we also are allowed to decorate it how we like with posters etc. When you arrive your bedroom will have a bed, a TV, a wardrobe and/or chest of drawers, a bedside table and a mirror. You can also ask for additional furniture or for a computer to do school work on.

3. What time are bed times?
Sundays to Thursdays is between 9.30pm and 10.30pm and Friday and Saturday is 11pm.

4. How much money do we get?
Up to £10 a week pocket money but you can also earn up to £10 per week bonus money depending on your behaviour etc. You will also receive £60 clothing allowance and £15 toiletries allowance each month.

5. Do we have to cook our own food?
You don't have to, but you are allowed to if you want and staff will assist you as much or as little as you want them to.

6. What rules are there?

  • No smoking in the house.
  • No alcohol or drugs in the house.
  • Be polite to staff, other young people and neighbours.
  • No bullying.

7. Is there a washing machine?
There is a washing machine and tumble dryer in the project, and depending on your age the staff will assist you to do your washing.

8. Is there internet access?
Currently there is a young person's computer but this does not have internet access, however we regularly timetable a trip to the internet café after dinner. We also have a Playstation (or equivalent) a DVD player and a video player in the communal living room.

9. Do you have sanctions?
Yes, your specific sanctions will be discussed with you when you arrive at the project. Sanctions may involve a reduced amount of pocket money or the loss of an activity,

10. Can I have friends in the project?
Of course, although we encourage you to let us know in advance if you want a friend to come for dinner etc. You may also invite members of your family to the project, but again, let staff know and we can help arrange the best day.
